Today, we palpated dairy cows as the first palpation for my food animal therio rotation. Half of us had palpated horses before and the other half of my rotation had never palpated anything, so needless to say it was new for everyone. Dairy cows are quite messy so we all wore coveralls and tall boots, but I was still covered in poop by the end of the morning. After a few cows, I could finally feel uterine horns and decide if the cow was pregnant or not. Not as easy as it sounds!
Pasture Palpating. All the rage! I don't think that I've ever been up to my shoulders in cow!
